Quilters in Parsons, KS show off some of their star blocks

Lecture/Trunk Show: “Stack-n-Whackier!”

Loads of goodies from my overflowing quilt closet! After a brief history of my design career, out come the quilts and wearables, including samples from all of my books and many of my patterns. After the trunk show, audience members can examine the quilts up close and pick my brain for how-tos.

The traditional Rail Fence block gets a new look when the “rails” are cut with the Stack-n-Whack technique. Framing the main fabric with two different accent fabrics creates an interwoven effect. For all the design drama, this is still a very simple quilt to piece, and suitable for beginners. From Stack-n-Whackipedia (AQS, Fall 2008).
